In terms of sound, our inspiration are the bands from San Francisco at the time of the New Orleans Revival in the middle of the last century, for example Lu Watters and his Yerba Buena Jazzband. Characteristic of this sound are the two trumpets and the „fat“ sound of the rhythm section, which consists of piano, banjo, bass (optionally tuba or double bass) and drums.

The basic repertoire of the band also includes swing, boogie woogie and Dixieland numbers, as well as tangos, marches and standards. These styles are especially suitable for dancing and the reason why Alexander’s Ragtime Band is more and more often invited for Lindy Hop and other dance events.

The band wants to pass on to the audience a feeling of happiness and enjoyment of life from listening to early jazz. Our music pleases not only jazz connoisseurs. Experience shows that it also appeals to people of all generations that like to relax with hot rhythms, and especially to those who like to hit the dance floor.
